I’m bad at keeping up with writing about these beers. Sorry about that. I’m still drinking, I swear! I had a few freelancing assignments that kept my otherwise occupied. So here we are, back to beering.
Beer 226: Toppling Goliath Twisted Galaxy
ABV: 8.2%
Notes: A very strong imperial IPA (surprise!) from Toppling Goliath. It had a nice citrus taste to it and maltiness that stuck with you.
Beer 227: Backpocket Ziegengott
ABV: 13.7%
Notes: So strong. So boozy. So dark. Much sweet. Sorry, I won’t try that again, I’m not sure what I was thinking with this entry.
Beer 228: No Coast Agricultured Rye Porter
ABV: 6%
Notes: This has a chocolatey and coffee flavor. I’ve tried almost all of the No Coast beers now, so far they’re impressing me.
Beer 229: Flix Dark Helmet Imperial Stout
ABV: 10%
Notes: How far behind am I? This was from the premiere of “Rogue One.” It’s a barrel-aged beer, and made the first half of the movie feel like kind of a blur. Very good.
Beer 230: Flix Red Leader Imperial Red Ale
ABV: 9.7%
Notes: The other reason “Rogue One” was a blur. I really enjoyed this one, the bourbon and sour flavor mixed well to bring balance to the force. Sorry, I’ll show myself out.
Beer 231: Exile Sir Moch-a-Lot
ABV: 7.5%
Notes: An imperial stout, with a dark color and roasted flavor. We were in prime stout weather when I drank this, and it was a good choice for a cold night.
Beer 232: Madhouse Coffee Stout
ABV: 6%
Notes: It feels odd describing a stout as “light drinking,” but after several strong beers, this felt like easy lifting. It has a good coffee flavor, thanks to a blend from U.S. Roasterie.
Beer 233: Fork & Spoon Get Shamash-ed
ABV: ?
Notes: My brother and sister-in-law made a Hannukah-themed holiday ale, and it was pretty awesome. I think there was pumpkin involved. I didn’t check to make sure it’s kosher, but we also eat bacon with our latkes, so it doesn’t really matter.
Beer 234: Fork & Spoon Jason’s Favorite Cider
ABV: Another cider from my brother and his wife, this one using lemongrass and ginger. The lemongrass and ginger cut down nicely on the sweetness. I had a few of these, and I may have to raid my parents’ house to see if a few bottles still remain.
Beer 235: Summerset Winery Mead
ABV: 12%
Notes: This was my Christmas morning beverage. It wasn’t too sweet, and had nice floral notes. Man, mead is strong. I need to try a few more before this challenge is over.
